A Senior Art Lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire will be exhibiting her latest work next week with one of the of the UK's best-known artists, Richard Long.
Catherine Baker, who is based at the University’s School of Media Art and Design, will be displaying her work with the former Turner Prize winner, who is best known for the use of nature in his work, including his River Avon mud drawings.
The lecturer will be displaying six pieces of work, including drawings based on eye movement, at Bury St Edmunds Art Gallery. Her work will be displayed at the art exhibition Drawing in Motion, which explores the processes involved in drawing. Other artists displaying at the exhibition include Diogo Pimentao and Jo Roberts.
She said: “I am really pleased to be displaying my work with so many top artists. The exhibition is a great opportunity for me to showcase some of the latest projects I have been working on.”
Earlier this year Catherine was commissioned to produce artwork for the entrance to the new £15M offices of Mid-Bedfordshire District Council. She has also been carrying out pioneering work on art created by eye movement.
The exhibition opens at 6pm at Bury St Edmunds Art Gallery on Friday 29 September. Tickets cost £1 per person (50p concessions) and can be ordered from the gallery box office on 01284 762081.
