A new Manager has been appointed at the University's Centre for Women's Enterprise (CWE). Linda Kitchener has taken over the role following the departure of Dawn Jordan, who developed the Centre into an award-winning enterprise within the space of two years.

The CWE has become a core part of the University’s Business School and now offers courses and networks on a commercial basis, as well as business growth workshops for women in Herts, Beds and Essex, funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and East of England Development Agency.

Speaking about her appointment, Linda said: "This is an exciting time and I am looking forward to developing the Centre further. Dawn has done a tremendous job and I'm keen to continue to build on the excellent links that have already been set up.”

Linda's experience in this field has prepared her well for this new role. She initially worked as Project and Recruitment Manager for the CWE's successful Enterprising Women Project, and worked within the commercial team for the University's Faculty of Creative Arts Technologies and Science.

Throughout this period, she was involved with a variety of projects, including a Higher Education ESF project awarding bursaries to unemployed graduates wishing to study an MSc in Psychological Approaches to Health and Management.

She also researched the effectiveness of Teaching Assistants and Support Staff training materials for the Training and Development Agency and carried out a short research project for the DfES. This was funded by the UK Resource Centre for Women in Science Engineering and Technology, looking at developing mentoring for female technology students, and comparing students' needs with those from similar fields.

Linda is supported by Marketing and Account Executive, Julie Tysoe and Research Director, Muhammed Roomi.
