Professor Colin Coulson-Thomas

Businesses in South Africa have benefited from the expert advice of a Professor from the University of Bedfordshire.

Dr Colin Coulson-Thomas, who is a visiting Professor of Competitiveness at the University, addressed important business associations and conferences and also spoke to top directors and board members at Johannesburg’s Gordon Institute of Business Science during a tour of South Africa last week.

He is the author of three successful books, which offer specialist guidance to companies on how to improve their performance and profits.

Speaking to members of the South African division of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Dr Coulson-Thomas talked about how to adopt ‘winning ways’ which he believes are the key to tackling the country’s skill shortages. He revealed: “ A new generation of support tools can help average performers to adopt the ways of high performing superstars.”

He also discussed the importance of effective pricing and the need for a revolution at director and board level, which according to the Professor, could significantly improve corporate performance in South Africa.

Dr Coulson-Thomas has helped more than 100 entrepreneurs and business development teams and has spoken at over 200 national, international and corporate events in 35 countries.

The University also runs a Master of Business Administration (MBA) course in South Africa, which includes a period of study in the UK for South African students to interact with their contemporaries at the University of Bedfordshire.
