A Biggleswade student has been kicking her way through the competition, and won a silver medal at the World Karate Championships last month.
The 19 year-old, who is training to be a teacher at the University of Bedfordshire, picked up the silver medal at the Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Association World Championships. She was competing in the Cadet 18-19 female class on the 13 October in, Crawley, East Sussex.
Nikki said: “I’m really pleased to have won a medal. I’ve been carrying an Achilles injury for most of the year, so haven’t been able to train. This was my first year competing after a two year break and I look forward to going to Las Vegas next year to compete in the Women’s black belt category of the world championships.”

Nikki started learning karate as a child and is now a black belt fourth dan. She runs her own karate club for youngsters in Langford. She would like to be a PE teacher after completing her studies and would also like to continue teaching karate.
