Christmas has come early for 25 Bedfordshire students who have each been awarded a £1,000 bursary.
National charity, the Steel Charitable Trust, awarded the bursaries to local final year students at the University of Bedfordshire, who have experienced financial problems, to support them through their final year of study.
Nicholas Wright, Chairman of the Trust, said: “We are pleased to work with the University by helping these students during this important year. We hope by helping them financially that they will be able to focus on their studies and achieve their full potential.”
Suzanne Henman, from Shortstown in Bedford who is studying for a degree in Education Studies and English, was thrilled to receive one of the bursaries. She said: “It was such a surprise when I heard that I would be receiving the bursary, it feels like all the hard work I have been putting into my course has been rewarded. The money will really help with everyday costs including my student finances and textbooks.”
