Orchestra kicks off 2007 with romantic flavour

2 Feb 2007 16:19:03

Classical music fans are in for a treat this Valentine’s season as the University of Bedfordshire’s resident orchestra, Symphonia Academica, gets its 2007 programme under way.

Romance will be in the air as the orchestra marks Valentine’s weekend with an intimate, candle-lit performance at the Rufus Centre, Steppingley Road, Flitwick.

The orchestra will play music by two Italian masters as well as pieces from composers who have been inspired by the country. Vivaldi’s Four Seasons will be blended with music by fellow Italian, Rossini, Austrian composers Mozart and Hugo Wolf, and Latin American master, Salomon Cuellar.

The concert gets under way at 7.30pm on Saturday 17 February. Tickets cost £7 (£5 with concessions). To book call the Box Office at the Rufus Centre on 01525 631900.
