An exhibition of cutting-edge work which brings together new technology and performance will be shown at the BCA Gallery in Bedford.

Presented by second year Performing Arts students from the University of Bedfordshire, the exhibition is the result of their explorations into how digital media and performance can come together via screen-based performances and installations.

The exhibition entitled ‘Convergences’ will be shown at the Castle Lane gallery next Tuesday 13 February, until Friday 16 February, from 11am to 5pm.

It’s the first time the BCA Gallery have worked in conjunction with the University to give students the opportunity to exhibit their work in a professional environment.

The student artists will be available throughout the exhibition to discuss their work and would welcome feedback from members of the public.

Helen Bailey, Principal Lecturer in Dance, said: “The students are really excited about showing their work in a professional setting.

“It promises to be an eclectic and entertaining experience and is part the University’s aim to give the students experience of hosting their own exhibitions and being a visible part of the community.”

This is the second exhibition the University has created for the BCA Gallery. Last year, Ms Bailey, who has an international reputation for integrating dance and new technologies, was commissioned to create an interactive installation with Polish new media artists Ziemovit Maj and Piotr Kowalski. It was the first time dance had been performed at the gallery.
