A ground-breaking international conference and awards programme entitled Business without Borders has been launched by the University of Bedfordshire’s Centre for Competitiveness.
Developed both for businesses and those who support business, including regional stakeholders, Business without Borders will help organisations understand how to harness the talents and skills of their workforce and exploit the potential of external partnerships for maximum growth.
Professor Paul Burns, Dean of the University’s Business School and Professor of Entrepreneurship explains: “Globalisation has arrived and is here to stay. But are we ready to take advantage of it? Can we compete against new competitors? Can we find new customers? Can the UK and its regions become leaders in the new global market?”
”The Business without Borders conference offers an exclusive, inside track on what it takes for all organisations to deliver better competitiveness in a world of rapidly-changing economies.
“It also gives policy makers and planners an insight into what is driving this global competitiveness agenda.”
To be held at the University of Bedfordshire’s Putteridge Bury campus on 6 June 2007, the conference is specifically designed to equip both businesses and business development and support agencies with practical, knowledge-based strategies for world-class competitive positioning and sustained enterprise development.
Business without Borders and the University of Bedfordshire have also commissioned exclusive new research from leading UK economist Dr Rebecca Harding to examine the competitiveness of key global economies and reveal essential insights into the relative competitiveness of our own UK regions.
The first findings of this exclusive
research will be presented at the conference, along with powerful insights from some of the leading economists and experts on competitiveness and enterprise in the 21st century economy, including:
There will also be revealing benchmark case studies from the development agencies of leading European business locations including Barcelona, Eindhoven, Luton and Stuttgart.
Whether businesses are competing against emerging Asian super-economies, new European entrants, or simply intensifying pressure at home, Business without Borders will offer exclusive insights on competitiveness at a local, regional and international level.
The Business without Borders national awards will also highlight outstanding achievement in innovation, creativity and excellence in business.
