A new education deal has been signed which will allow IT and Business Management students from India to gain a degree from the University of Bedfordshire.
During a visit to India last week, the University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Les Ebdon, signed an agreement with the Nitte Education Trust, in Karnataka.
The deal will see MBA and Computer Networking students studying their first semester in India and their final two semesters in Bedfordshire.
Professor Ebdon said: “We have developed strong partnerships with a number of institutions in India as the University of Bedfordshire is one of the top universities for student choice.
“One of the reasons for this is we have the third highest percentage of international students studying at UK universities and we have an excellent reputation for preparing students for employment within the IT sector.
“Our courses are characterised by choice and flexibility, career relevance, and the scope to provide all students with the opportunity to achieve their full potential.”
Representatives of the University are also finalising an agreement with Amity University - a leading private Business School - to allow students to study the first semester of their MSc in Business and Management, Computer Science, Computer Networking or Computer Security in Delhi, and to finish the final two semesters at the University of Bedfordshire.
During the visit, the Vice Chancellor, an internationally-renowned expert in environmental chemistry, received the Global Academic Excellence Award from Amity Business School. The prize is given annually to those who have demonstrated achievements in the field of education.
Later in the week, he officially opened the newly-built Justice Hedge Institute of Management in Karnataka, which is part of the Nitte Education Trust. The new building will offer students superb facilities in a contemporary learning environment.
Professor Ebdon added: “It was a great honour to receive such a prestigious award. It certainly made my first visit to India a truly memorable one. I was also honoured to be invited to open the new University building in Karnataka. It symbolised both the rapid growth of the economy in India and their continuing desire to work together with a highly successful UK partner.”
