Explore the arts ‘Out of Hours’

Members of the public are being invited to an evening of innovative performance, music, video, animation and photography at the University of Bedfordshire on Wednesday 21 March.

The Out of Hours exhibition will include work by lecturers’ from the University’s Research Institute for Media, Art and Design Practice (RIMAD).

Video Production Lecturer Joanna Callaghan, who is organising the event, said: “The evening will show interesting and innovative pieces of work, from a range of mediums, which everyone is welcome to enjoy.

“We are very fortunate at the University to have members with such talent and creativity and we look forward to showcasing their work.”

The programme includes:

  • A virtual flute performance by Music Technology Lecturer, Dave Bessell, using computer technology
  • The acclaimed short animated film Myth #821 by Senior Technician, Adam Procter, which gives a taste of how man may have obtained fire
  • A digital photography exhibition by Eva Stenram, Lecturer in Fine Art, Digital Photography and Video Art
  • A screening of cutting-edge animation works by Media Performance Lecturer, Maria Wiener, featuring two award-winning digital choreographies, Vice Versa and Dialogos
  • Poetry recital by Creative Writing Lecturer, Keith Jebb, which includes visuals set to a recorded voice

Joanna Callaghan will also show a short film she was recently commissioned to make by HAPPEN, an arts organisation in Bedfordshire, to explore the role of arts in regeneration and urban renewal.

Joanna has recently been awarded a commission from Capture, the national strategic agency for dance and the moving image, for a photographic installation called Still Moving which will be exhibited in 2008.
