University of Bedfordshire students have impressed the BBC’s interactive news boss.

Pete Clifton, Head of BBC News Interactive, has visited the Park Square campus on his second visit to the University. He used the opportunity to outline the demands facing journalists today, the challenges of user generated content and the controversial introduction of advertising on some BBC international online sites.

After facing questions from journalism undergraduates and postgraduate students he said: “It was a real pleasure and I was impressed by the interest and enthusiasm of the students at Bedfordshire.”

University of Bedfordshire Journalism lecturer, Deena Ingham who is a former colleague of Pete Clifton, organised the visit. She said: “It is great that our students benefit from the practical advice and experience of relevant visitors like Pete Clifton, and it important such people see just how keen and talented Bedfordshire’s students are.”

Other visitors to the journalism programme in the past months include a leading Bedfordshire JP, John Francis, Group Editor of Bedfordshire Newspapers and Alex Gerlis, Head of Training for the BBC’s Journalism College.
