A new organisation offering university level qualifications will open in Aylesbury next week.
The University of Bedfordshire is one of the key partners of the Aylesbury Vale University Centre (AVUC) providing a number of health, education and social care courses, to increase its higher education provision in the county. The University already provides nursing and midwifery training at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury and High Wycombe Hospital.
Professor Les Ebdon, Vice Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire, said: “We are really pleased to be part of the pioneering partnership to extend higher education opportunities in Aylesbury, by providing courses leading to employment.
“This exciting initiative brings together a range of courses and qualifications from a collaboration of universities and other training providers, which means students in Aylesbury do not have to travel out of the area to get the higher education they want.
“AVUC will offer part time, as well as full time options, and flexible learning to suit students’ lifestyles.”
AVUC is a collaborative arrangement between Aylesbury College, Aylesbury Training Group, University of Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College.
The launch of the new organisation, based at Aylesbury College’s campus in Oxford Road, takes place on 1 October at 4pm.
