New flexible Master’s degree courses have been introduced by the University of Bedfordshire to enable more employees to study while they work.
Academics at the Business and Management Research Institute (BMRI) at the University have designed the programmes to allow delegates to pick and choose the start date of the course, and the type of tuition and support they need, which includes face-to-face reviews with supervisors.
“These work-based Master’s programmes are designed to develop knowledge and understanding in an area related to each student’s work,” said Professor of Information Systems, Dr Yanqing Duan. “The emphasis is on learning in the workplace and each student will develop a project that is related to their day-to-day work by analysing business problems and finding solutions through research. It will give them the skills required to further develop their careers.”
A variety of Master’s by research programmes are available, including:
Students can study part-time over two years, or if they are able to commit to the course full-time, they can qualify in a year. Topics are flexible and students are encouraged to suggest their own research ideas.
In addition to this flexible learning for the employed, the University’s Knowledge Hub provides professional training, advice and consultancy services to global companies, SMEs and local start-up firms.
