Mother’s
Day is a chance to show your Mum just how much she means. So why not treat her
to an evening of classical music and dance on Sunday 2 March at the University of Bedfordshire’s
new theatre in Bedford.
The
evening will feature music from Symphonia Academica, the University’s resident
orchestra, who will perform a feast of music from around the world.
This will include Bohemian-Austrian composer Mahler’s Adagietto (used in the film Death in Venice), Britain’s very own
Elgar and Walton, Rautavaara’s Nordic
‘Fiddlers’ and Bartók’s Romanian dances.
The
evening will also see the world premiere of Michael Miller’s Celtic Suite and a
new dance interpretation of the work of world-famous film composer Michael
Legrand (The Thomas Crown Affair), performed by dancers from the University of
Bedfordshire and Luton Sixth Form College.
The performance at the Polhill Avenue venue gets under way at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12 per person (£10 with concessions and £8 for children) and can be ordered in advance from Bedford Box Office on 01234 269519.
