Level 3 students from the University of Bedfordshire Division of Media Arts & Production, recently put together the final touches to their Special Project “Behind the Box”; a 30 minute magazine programme, talking to various high profile TV personalities about ‘the real behind the scenes’ of a television production.
The Special Project is the climax of a 3 year degree in TV Production and the first main piece of independent work aimed for broadcast from Level 3 students: Colin Finnerty; Ben Blakey; Sophie Cartmell; Claire Stubbs and Tommy Sutton.
Kathryn Wolfe, Course Leader, commented: “The project is the pinnacle of 3 years of hard work and from start to finish is the students’ own work.”
TV personalities who agreed to take part in the project included: Shana Swash from EastEnders; Darren Bransford from Hollyoaks; Big Brother’s Big Mouth Presenter Jeff Leach and Natalie Barrass TV Critic from London Life.
Students put their talents to the test, renovating various pieces of furniture from Oxfam including chairs, tables and ornaments, to create a chat show-style set worthy of ‘Phil & Fern’ for a thrifty £120.
Claire Stubbs, Level 3 student commented: “Our final project is a collaboration of everything we’ve learned over the past 3 years. The course has provided excellent practical experience and for me personally, it’s really boosted my confidence.”
Kathryn concluded: “The students have done a great job - I’m really proud of them”.
