BBC Radio 4 has released more details of its autumn tour next month which includes a visit to the University of Bedfordshire.
The pilot tour will give students the opportunity to see programme recordings, meet production staff and presenters and attend workshops.
BBC Radio 4 Commissioning Editor Caroline Raphael, said: “We’re very excited about this project. We thought it would be a great way of showcasing Radio 4 to the curious minds of tomorrow.
“The tour is a pilot, so we can’t say if it will become a regular fixture, but I’m sure it will be a really informative and fun experience for the students, and of course our production teams.”
Bedfordshire is one of three universities taking part in the tour. A range of programmes is planned to be broadcast from the Bedford campus at the end of October.
Caroline explained: “We’ll be at each university for two days and will record about four programmes at each venue. As well as the programming, there will be off-air events for students. These include a writers’ workshop and there’ll also be talks by BBC staff such as presenters and documentary makers.”
Tickets to programme recordings will be available exclusively to university students and staff. A final decision is yet to be made on which programmes will be recorded at the different venues but will include programmes such as Woman’s Hour and The Moral Maze.
The other universities on the tour are the University of Derby and Cardiff University.
