Employability Fellows Inauguration Ceremony

Giving its students the knowledge and skills to find work is being taken seriously at the University of Bedfordshire.

Eleven members of staff have been appointed new Employability Fellows and received certificates of recognition for their employability role.

They are Jim Hornsby, Deena Ingham, Dr Fiaz Hussain, Isabella McMurray, Dr Hakeem Seriki, Fiona Factor, Maggie Killingbeck, Courtney Jones, Tim Priestman, Sam Elkington and Dr Paul Beedie.

The University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Mary Malcolm, was at the inauguration ceremony which was hosted by the Bridges Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) and the Centre for Personal and Career Development (CPCD).

Professor Malcolm said: “I love working on the employability strand of the curriculum and look forward to chairing the Employability Action Group which was created at the University to move the Employability Strategy forward.”

The Employability Strategy has a variety of aims including to increase the range and availability of student real-world, work experience opportunities, develop an enterprise and entrepreneurship culture and increase the quality, depth and range of work with employers.

Employability Fellows from across all subject disciplines are currently working on small-scale CETL-funded projects to further promote employability within their curriculum this year.

Their work is aimed at developing and delivering an innovative, employability-focused curriculum that will give the University’s students the skills to manage their futures in a rapidly changing world.
