Showbiz starlets from America entertained the University of Bedfordshire’s Chancellor at the Houses of Parliament.
The talented youngsters from all over the States belong to non-profit organisation Kemet Productions, a programme for aspiring performance artists based in Washington DC.
University Chancellor Baroness Howells saw the youngsters sing We Are the World, the 1985 hit single from the supergroup USA for Africa which was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, last Friday.
One of the students, Jazmyn McKoy, also had the opportunity to interview Cherie Blair, wife of the former Prime Minister, Tony.
The young dancers, singers and actors are all being given a helping hand to get started in the tough world of show business.
They were also given a guided tour around the University’s Luton campus last Thursday morning before being involved in the BOOST Conference at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts (UKCCA) later in the day. The University is a key partner of BOOST, the Bedfordshire Olympic Opportunities Support Team.
Also at the BOOST Conference was Kemet Productions supremo Jane Jackson Harley who founded the careers of the likes of singer Sisqo, hit-makers Dru Hill and comedian Dave Chappelle.
The visit of Kemet Productions was supported by Reidy Youth Foundation which is a UK charity, based in Sheffield, hosting Cultural Olympiad projects.
