One former PGCE student at the University has wasted no time in making her mark at a secondary school in North Hertfordshire.
Rebecca Tyrrell from Cambridge, who turned 25 last Saturday (5 December), took her PGCE in Secondary School Dance at the University’s Bedford campus.
After a previous work placement at Nobel School in Stevenage, Rebecca started there in September as a permanent member of staff teaching dance and drama. Less than two months later, she earned promotion by taking on the additional role of assistant director of student development for Year Ten.
Rebecca said: “It’s all been a bit crazy since September but I’m really enjoying it here though.”
The University’s Principal Lecturer in Dance Education, Maggie Killingbeck, said: “Rebecca puts the time and effort in because she wants to. She is committed to education and has a very positive and ‘can do’ attitude.”
Rebecca added: “Maggie is very thorough and I learned more than is actually needed while I was at Bedford. This has definitely helped me get this extra role, as well as preparing me for how hectic school life can be.”
