Students at the University of Bedfordshire are getting in the festive spirit thanks to a risqué charity calendar.
The fit fillies and buff boys are Bedford campus based physical education and sport students. Also included in the new calendar are some of the University’s sports teams and members of staff at the Alexander Sports Centre.
The calendar is a fundraiser for the Malawi Project 2010 and is now on sale before the festive break.
One of the organisers, Senior Lecturer in Physical Education Mark Bowler, said: “The calendar is a good way of publicising what we do. It will appeal to the student market!
“We’ve tried to include a number of the University’s sports teams and they hopefully will all want to buy a copy.”
The University’s next African adventure after Easter sees Mark and fellow lecturer Paul Sammon being joined by the charity calendar and Malawi Project co-ordinator Michelle Rowe along with five final year students.
It is a continuation of the University’s links with Malawi with the aim to aid teacher development in physical education in that country.
Mark, who also went on this year’s trip to Malawi, said: “This time we will be working in a new region in Malawi with a new cluster of schools.”
PE graduate Michelle has also set up a non-profit organisation called Inspire Malawi to promote and assist with the development work.
The calendar is available priced at £8 each or two for £15. And they are sure to be in high demand as only a limited number of copies have been printed.
It is available to buy from either Mark or Paul as well as in the Students’ Union at Bedford and the Alexander Sports Centre.
