European students are meeting to discuss the importance of the EU at a special conference at the University of Bedfordshire on Friday (13 February).

The conference entitled 'What does the European Union mean to me?' is part of a twinning project organised by Bedford Borough Council and the University for more than 30 students from the Otto Friedrich Universität, in Bamberg, Germany and the Consorzio Università Rovigo in Italy, who will visit Bedford between the 12th and 15th February.

The conference will be led by guest MEPs Andrew Duff and Richard Howitt and chaired by Councillor Apu Bagchi.

Business Development Manager at the University Sarah Waller said: “As future business leaders, it is important for students from across Europe to understand the implications of being members of the EU.

“This is a special opportunity for the students to learn about how the EU works and consider the economic and political benefits. They will have the chance to develop their own EU Student Constitution which will be presented to MEP Andrew Duff.”
