Business students in India are being given the chance to receive a UK and an Indian degree thanks to a new education deal announced this week.
The agreement between the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) University in Tripura and the University of Bedfordshire will see postgraduate students from ICFAI study part of their course in Bedfordshire.
Following this, students will receive an Master of Business Administration (MBA) from ICFAI and a Master of Business Management Suite (MBMS) from the University of Bedfordshire.
According to the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (External Relations), Professor Ashraf Jawaid, this latest partnership is a new approach to delivering postgraduate education with overseas partners.
He said: “We’re very excited about this new approach to delivering postgraduate business education with our partners in India. We will be working very closely with colleagues at ICFAI University to deliver this programme. This is a fantastic opportunity for these students to get an insight into how UK business operates.
“Staff from ICFAI will also visit our campus to further enhance the exchange of academic and managerial best practice and we will work together to identify research opportunities that may be undertaken by staff and students at both ICFAI and the University of Bedfordshire.”
The first cohort of 100 students are expected to arrive in Bedfordshire in September following three months of study at ICFAI.
Mr Sharma, Director of ICFAI added: “Our students will benefit greatly from this opportunity to study in the UK and we are delighted to be able to offer students the chance to gain two degrees.”
Future plans include a link with industry to run professional courses with Indian managers and to introduce the University of Bedfordshire’s successful distance learning MBA which already runs in several countries including South Africa and Russia.
