A performance charting the experiences of a woman diagnosed with breast cancer will be shown at The Place Theatre in Bedford on Thursday (26 February).
‘Climbing Walls’ was written by Nursing Professor at the University of Bedfordshire Chris Johns and features Theatre and Dance Lecturers Amanda Price and April Nunes.
Dr Johns reflects on his work supporting a woman with breast cancer in the local community as his role as a volunteer complementary therapist.
It is part a theatre writing festival ‘ScriptBEDS’, which sees professional theatre practitioners present a week long series of work created by local writers, including script readings and experimental performances at The Place, in Bradgate Road and Ent Shed, in Castle Road.
Dr Johns works with dance and drama lecturers at the University to reflective on his experiences through performance, which he uses in his teaching, but this will be the first public performance of the work.
Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are priced £4 in advance from www.theplacebedford.org.uk/tickets or £5 on the door. Festival passes are also available, for further information visit www.scriptbeds.org
