Neville Hunt receiving the Norman Manners Award

A Senior Lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire was named the Norman Manners PR Professional of the Year at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) annual awards.

Course Leader in PR Neville Hunt was awarded the coveted title at the Thames and Chiltern regional PRide Awards held in Marlow.

The award recognises an outstanding career in PR and is the first time it has gone to someone outside the industry.

Neville has spent the last 15 years teaching marketing, communications and PR at the University and developed the CIPR approved degree, equipping students with the necessary skills for a successful career in the industry.

He works hard to involve students with a number of top PR agencies and gives them real PR briefs to work on, which they pitch to senior professionals at the agencies.

He said: “It’s a great honour to receive the award and be recognised for the work I carry out at the University training PR professionals and working with so many top consultancies in the industry to ensure students gain valuable experience, as well as academic skills.

“I have a huge enthusiasm and interest in PR and it’s great to see that as a professional practice the industry is gaining the credibility it deserves, which I have worked hard to ensure at the University.”

The late Norman Manners was one of the founding fathers of PR in the UK and the award is named after his memory and presented to an individual who has made a significant long-term contribution to the PR profession.
