Romance will be in the air this Valentine’s Day as the University of Bedfordshire’s resident string quartet, Quartet Camerata, host an evening of music and poetry in Barton-le-Clay.
Part of the University of Bedfordshire Concert Series, the quartet’s “Valentine Bouquet” concert will take place at St Nicholas’ Church Hall, in Church Road, at 8pm, on Saturday 14 February.
Music includes Bernstein’s West Side Story, Borodin’s popular Nocturne and Scherzo from his second quartet, red hot tangos by Piazzolla, Gershwin’s tranquil Lullaby, Osvaldo Golijov’s evocative Tenebrae and music by Mendelssohn and Rimsky Korsakov.
Quartet Camerata will celebrate their sixteenth anniversary this year and have performed across the country to critical acclaim at venues including the Victoria & Albert Museum, English Heritage’s Wrest Park and Cambridge University’s Madingley Hall.
Peter Bussereau and Juliet Kauffmann will be on violin, Paul
Bennett on viola
and Peter Randall on cello.
Tickets cost £12 (concessions £10), including a glass of bubbly to celebrate Valentine’s Day. To book contact 01582 882159.
