It has been a red-hot summer for a senior lecturer from the University of Bedfordshire who has created history.

Now the Luton borough councillor is the first female chair of the Bedfordshire and Luton Combined Fire Authority, having been a member of the Authority since 2003 and vice-chair since June 2005.
She said: “I am delighted to have been elected as chair of the Combined Fire Authority and would like to thank my colleagues and the former chairman Anthony Duggan for sharing his experience.

“I hope that the CFA can continue to work together as one to support the work of the officers of the Fire and Rescue Service in keeping our community safe, at home and on the roads.”
