The University of Bedfordshire wishes to express condolences to the family and friends of one of its students, Shuang Ren, who sadly died on Sunday 31 May.
University Vice Chancellor Professor Les Ebdon said: "This is a tragic set of circumstances. According to Police, Shuang fell from the third floor of a private residence in Mill Street, Luton, on Saturday 30 May and died a few hours later in hospital.
"I was in Beijing at the time and, as soon as I heard, I sought a meeting with Shuang's family to express our sympathies and offer our full support. We have also offered the family accommodation and support in the UK while they make the necessary funeral arrangements."
The University arranged a Memorial Service at which Shuang's friends and teachers were able to honour her memory and afterwards record messages of support in a Memory Book for the family.
Police are investigating Shuang's death.
