The Bedfordshire Grand Summer Ball went with a swing on Saturday night.
Hosted by the University of Bedfordshire in the grounds of beautiful Putteridge Bury, the sold-out event is one of the most prestigious in the county’s calendar.
The University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Les Ebdon CBE, and Derek Ludlow CBE, Chairman of the Development Board, were joined by more than 200 guests on a glorious sunny evening in a magnificent marquee sponsored by London Luton Airport.
The fundraising ball raised more than £6,000 which will go to the Student Scholarships and Bursaries Fund. This is for students in the area who would otherwise not be able to afford to attend the University.
One of the money-raising features was a Silent Auction with lots from Luton Hoo Hotel, Center Parcs and Woburn Safari Park.
Guests at the black tie event were treated to a Champagne cocktail reception on the Putteridge Bury terrace, accompanied by an orchestra, followed by a four-course dinner before dancing to the Chapter Eight band.
