The movers and shakers from local schools are showing off their talents at the University of Bedfordshire in early July.
The University is hosting its annual choreography competition for youngsters aged 14-19 at the Campus Centre Theatre in Bedford from 7.30pm on Wednesday, 1 July.
It is for groups of three to seven youngsters from school dance groups/companies to enter their own choreography.
The winners will receive a choreography trophy and may be eligible for free places on the University’s annual Gifted and Talented Dance Summer School.
Professional dancer Wendy Hesketh is heading up the judging panel of dance experts. It is open to the public and costs £3. Further information on the night is available from maggie.killingbeck@beds.ac.uk

Two days later, on Friday, 3 July, the Bedford campus also hosts a Day of Dance for Year 10 GCSE dance students. Local schools will be involved in three workshops – African, Northern Soul and Capoeira which is a Brazilian martial art.
Dance enthusiasts had a ball on Wednesday night (17 June) as secondary school pupils from 11 of the University’s partnership schools performed their extra-curricular dances in the Campus Centre Theatre.
This was a course requirement for the teacher training (PGCE or postgraduate certificate of education) students at the University.
The schools involved were Sharnbrook Upper School, Wootton Upper School, Biddenham Upper School, Lodge Park Technology College from Corby, Rickmansworth School, Stantonbury Campus in Milton Keynes, Latimer Community Arts College in Kettering, King Edward VII School from Leicestershire, Nobel Secondary School in Stevenage, Parkside Federation from Cambridge and Wollaston School in Northamptonshire.
Organiser Maggie Killingbeck said: “The night was extremely successful and was very well received; we had almost 150 pupils performing plus the 12 PGCE trainees.”
