B:Fest - The show's over but it will be back bigger and better

The second Luton Arts Festival B:Fest has now come to an end after a fantastic three weeks of art, performance, film, fashion, literature, music and fun.

Organiser Jess Mason Wilkes said: “Myself and the rest of the festival team have had a fantastic second year of B:Fest.

“People have really begun to engage with the festival and see it as a real opportunity to showcase the fantastic arts-based work that the Luton community has to offer.

“Everyone who took part was brilliant but highlights included all our outdoor events, especially the hip hop dancing displays, live graffiti art and acoustic music. It was also a real honour to be involved with and help run a stage alongside the University’s Students’ Union at the Luton Carnival.

“The exhibition of Iraqi art which was on display at the hat Factory throughout the festival really caught the attention of people across the town and it was brilliant that visiting authors, artists and poets such as LD Tyler, John Hegley and Nahla Al-Tabba took the time to share their work with us.

“I think the best response we’ve had is to the B:Unit Shop Exhibition space which gave us the opportunity to display some breathtaking pieces of work. The feedback we have received is that people in the town would like to see a shop unit dedicated to displaying local art all year round!”

Plans are already underway for next year’s festival so if you have any comments or suggestions of what you would like to see included, email them to enquiries@lutonartsfestival.org.
