Adrian's the Wonderful Wizard of Oz!

Performing arts student Adrian McGachie from the University of Bedfordshire is sure of a G’day when he jets off to Switzerland next month (July).

He has been invited to train and perform in ‘The Tale of Macbeth’ with Australian theatre makers, Ozfrank Theatre, in Aarau from 11-22 July.

This is after the 42 year old from Rutland, a part-time student at the University, attended the Frank Suzuki Performance Aesthetics workshop in summer 2008.

The workshops, which introduced candidates to a Western translation of the Japanese Suzuki Actor Training Method, were in addition to an excellent training programme provided by University of Bedfordshire lecturer Antje Diedrich who specialises in the method.

Adrian said he has benefited from the training and is very excited to be taking up this great opportunity to experience life in a professional company and to improve his skills.

He said: “To be invited to train and perform with Ozfrank Theatre is a huge honour and one that I would never have had without the help of Antje who has continued to work with me over the year, practising and training in the Suzuki method.

“I found the Suzuki training to have a profound effect on my development as a performer, as it takes a holistic approach which is unique to each performer, which means that everyone from the highly experienced performer to relative novice benefits at their own pace from the training.

“The emphasis is on the individual to make their own progress through the experience of the method, acquiring a range of complete voice and body skills in the process.”
