More than 2,000 from Bedfordshire schools and colleges attended this year’s successful Connexions Higher Education Fair on Monday 30 March.
Hosted by the University
of Bedfordshire’s Bedford
campus, the event saw more than 80 universities and colleges from around the UK presenting
information aimed at promoting degree-level education to school children.

This included a series of half-hour talks on topical student matters, including taking a gap year, Oxbridge entrance, and an introduction to degree subjects. More than a third of these were delivered by the University of Bedfordshire.
Lal Joshi, Head of Student Recruitment at the University, helped to organise the fair. He said: “It was a great day and attendance was very high. This is the biggest event of its kind in the region and a brilliant opportunity for pupils and their parents and teachers to talk direct to university representatives.
“It was great to see so many local schools and colleges supporting their students’ attendance on the day because we were able to give them all the information they need about going on to university.”
This was the second year that the Connexions fair was held at the University of Bedfordshire. As well as record attendance, the day also saw positive feedback from students attending, and the institutions represented.
