B:Fest Luton Arts Festival is back, showcasing the town’s thriving creative arts and cultural scene from May 21 to June 11.
Following the success of last year’s pilot event B:Fest has returned with a programme that is even bigger and better. This year’s theme is Inspiration and the organisers are hoping that the festival will inspire and encourage participation across all areas of the arts for audiences, contributors and the wider community.
A varied programme, which includes art, film, theatre, music, competitions, poetry and literature is happening at arts venues, pubs and clubs across the town. During the run of the festival there will also be three themed weekends:
Including readings, creative writing conference and a Q&A session with comic crime writer LC Tyler.
Including guest readings from Gavin Selirie, Lee Harwood, Sean Bonney and others.
Including a range of films from silent to experimental, the Bedfordshire Animation Graduate Awards and the University’s film students degree show.
Other events in this year’s line up include an exhibition of Iraqi art, fashion shows, graffiti artists and a varied range of live music events.
If you would like to get involved enter one of the three competitions that are part of B:Fest 2009.
This year’s festival organiser Jess Mason-Wilkes is very excited about the programme. “B:Fest is back and giving the people of Luton a diverse and powerful festival that builds on last year’s success,” she said. “There is something for everyone and we are sure that the festival will fulfil its aims to get people to ‘B there, B inspired and B involved’.”
