B:Fest's perfect weekend for lovers of literature

If you love literature B:Fest Luton’s Arts Festival has the perfect weekend for you on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 May.

LC Tyler, one of the country’s rising stars of comic crime fiction will be at Waterstones on Saturday 23 May at 7pm. He will read extracts from his novels and take questions from the audience. His latest book A Very Persistent Illusion and its predecessor the Herring Sellers Apprentice have both received rave reviews. Tickets cost £3.50

On Friday 22 May from 8pm-10pm ‘Literature Lounge’ will take place at the The Old Shop. The evening will feature spoken word performances, music and film screenings. There will be several open mic’ slots so that audience can join in too. Tickets are £3.50

The University is holding its first Creative Writing Conference on Saturday 23 May. The Playful Paradox is a must for all budding writers and poets who will be able to present and discuss their work in an informal setting amongst students, University staff guest academics and other members of the general public. It takes place between 9 am and 5 pm. Tickets cost £10 or £7 concessions, free for students.

Festival wristbands give free or discounted admission to all events and cost £7.50 or £5 for concessions. For full details see the website.

The festival shop, B:Unit, is opening in the Mall (next to the new M&S) on Tuesday 19 May until Monday 22 June. The shop is for anyone to drop in and view a selection of works from artists that are taking part in the festival. Visitors can also pick up the latest information on all events. Opening times will be displayed in the window.
