More than 100 friends and family members joined Vice Chancellor Professor Les Ebdon and leading local businessman Derek Ludlow DL, to celebrate the award of CBE (Commander of the British Empire) by the Queen in the New Year’s Honours List.
The pair were among only a small number of people who receive this prestigious award each year and the celebratory event, held at the University’s Putteridge Bury campus gave them an opportunity to thank everyone for their support.
In Professor Ebdon’s case, the award was in recognition of his outstanding contribution and service to higher education. Mr Ludlow received his award in recognition of his enormous contribution to the local community as both a leading businessman and a charity fundraiser.
