Poetry is coming to Luton as part of the B:Fest Luton’s Arts Festival with a weekend of events from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 May.

The weekend begins at Waterstones on Friday at 7pm when celebrated poet Gavin Selerie reads from his forthcoming collected works Music's Duel . The collection is a gathering of work from across his career, combining major sequences or extracts with a range of less available material, some previously unpublished. Tickets £5.

On Saturday at the Green Room at the University Of Bedfordshire, Park Square four London poets, Sean Bonney, Frances Kruk, Jow Lindsay and Sophie Robinson each give an entertaining and electric performance of their works at 1.30pm.

At 4pm David Miller brings the Blue Bus reading series to Luton where he reads alongside Jeff Hilson, Johan de Wit and Giles Goodland. Tickets for both events are £4 and £3 for concessions.

On Saturday evening Caroline Bregvall an international writer and interdisciplinary poet working across media, languages, sonic and visual art forms and Redell Olson, a poet, academic and visual artist, will be reading from their innovative works at the University Library from 7.30pm to 9pm. Tickets £5, concessions £3.

Members from three local poetry societies will be reading from their own works at the May Ode to Beard Stroking at the Green Room on the afternoon of Sunday 31. An afternoon of locally grown entertainment, with an open mic for anyone who wants to read.

Luton’s own celebrated, innovative poet John Hegley will be teaming up with poet and musician Michael Horovitz, for an evening of fun, flair and laughter at the Hat Factory on 3 June at 7.30pm. Tickets £10, £8 and £5.

Throughout the festival there will be a trail of contemporary art works and poetry around the town centre and don’t forget to visit the B:Unit in the Mall where a selection of works from the festival will be on display.
