Students capture beauty in exhibition

Second year Interior Design and Interior Architecture students from the University of Bedfordshire are inviting Milton Keynes residents to attend a free exhibition at University Centre, Silbury Boulevard.

The exhibition entitled “Capture” will run for two weeks from Wed 3 June to Friday 19 June.

As part of their degree project, students have created 3-D models and 2-D visuals, inspired by artistic films such as Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window and Wes Anderson’s The Darjeeling Limited.

Each student had to choose one film; consider the plot, characters, design and genre. They then came up with a 5-7 minute film of their own from which a static image was taken and a 3-D model constructed capturing the essence of the film. A small scale sketch model was initially made, then developed into the final full-scale models on display.

The exhibition is the result of six month’s hard work.

Architecture student Sarah Salim said: “The visual could be made using any materials and we were encouraged to be inventive and original in our approach.”

Design student JulieAnne Feazey said: "I think I speak on behalf of everyone when I say we are looking forward to the exhibition and seeing the results of all our hard work. I have very much enjoyed this project and feel that it has pushed my creative ability.”

Fellow Architecture student Deborah Burgoyne added: "We believe the end result is some rather unusual and we feel, quite beautiful models. Everyone is welcome to come along to the exhibition. The more the merrier!"

The exhibition will be on display in the Upper Gallery Space.
