Nikki Sullivan enjoyed a double slice of victory in a recent karate regional competition.
She is in her second year at the University, currently studying a BA in Physical Education (secondary) with QTS.
Nikki, who has been competing in karate since she was nine, gained two gold's at the Tokon Kai Invitational Competition (regional level) at Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford, earlier this month.
One was in individual kata women’s third Kyu + and the other in individual kumite (fighting) women’s third Kyu + (both 17-21 years category).
On joining the University, Nikki successfully applied to the advanced sports scholarship squad and was awarded an international level scholarship. Nikki was also nominated for ‘sports personality of the year’ at the Sport Bedford Awards.
She competes in regional, national and international competitions and has her sights on the world championships in October as well as working towards her 5th Dan (Godan).
