Comedians Robert Webb, Sandi Toksvig and Jeremy Hardy were among those who graced the University of Bedfordshire as part of the BBC Radio 4 tour.
The trio were just some of the celebrities visiting the Bedford campus during the second leg of Radio 4’s first-ever autumn tour.
It was at the Campus Centre at Bedford on Thursday and Friday (29-30 October) and gave students the opportunity to see programme recordings, meet production staff and presenters and also attend workshops.
The culmination of the first day, which also saw a number of workshops and The Peep Show’s Robert Webb recording With Great Pleasure during the afternoon, was the topical comedy quiz, The News Quiz.

Chaired by Sandi Toksvig, the panel included Jeremy Hardy and Miles Jupp who was a late stand-in for the unwell Sue Perkins. The edited version of The News Quiz was aired over the weekend on Radio 4.
Friday saw more workshops and two further live recordings – the half-hour discussion programme Thinking Allowed hosted by Professor Laurie Taylor and sketch show/mockumentary Nick Mohammed: Apollo 21.
Bedfordshire is one of only three universities chosen to take part in the tour, with the University of Derby and Cardiff University the others.
The University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Les Ebdon CBE, said: “We’re thrilled to have been a part of the BBC Radio 4 tour. Our facilities at Bedford are fantastic and it was great to be involved in this unique and exciting event.”
BBC Radio 4 Commissioning Editor Caroline Raphael said: “We’re very excited about this project and thought it would be a great way of showcasing Radio 4 to the curious minds of tomorrow.”
