A marketing assistant in the University’s Business School has shown she’s got all the right moves.
Former University student Ingrida Bertasiute, known as Inga, has recently become a national street dance champion.
She is a part of Unseen Shadows, a dance crew from Luton, which went to the UK National Street Dance Championships.
There were 300 performers at the championships and each act had its own street dance flavour and interpretation.
Inga and dance partner Scott Hayhurst, who named their duo One 2 None, were the best in the Adult Duo category despite it being the first time they had worked as a duet.
Inga said: “We wanted the dance to have a theme and to communicate something rather than just to perform a routine. We started preparing in July, but kept changing and perfecting the moves.
“We are very honoured and pleased with the judges’ decision, the audience reaction and the comments we received. Hopefully our passion for dance has inspired more like-minded people!”
Their dance received a lot of extremely positive feedback both from the audience and the judges.
Choreographer, creative/artistic director and dance instructor Del Mak was one of the judges and he said: “Scott and Inga did really well; I loved their duo routine. It was one of my highlights of the day.”
There was more success for Inga as the duo which she trains at Tring also came first in the under-13 Duo category.
Unseen Shadows also include other two people with links to the University - current Advertising and Marketing Communications student Michelle Ramsumair, and a former Media Production student Kevin Jackson who is the main choreographer of the group.
Inga and Scott regularly attend street
dance classes on Wednesdays at the hat Factory in Luton.
