Hundreds of students will be celebrating at the Luton campus when they graduate next week.
Among the graduates at the ceremonies on Thursday and Friday, 12 and 13 November will be Sir Jimmy Savile OBE, who will receive an Honorary Doctor of Arts for his lifelong support of the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury.
The colourful former radio and television presenter has raised £20 million for the hospital and has run hundreds of marathons for various charitable organisations.
Also receiving honorary awards will be former University of Bedfordshire Chancellor Sir Robin Biggam and Vice-Chair of the University Board of Governors Helen Nellis.
The graduation ceremonies are taking place at St. Mary’s Church.
Students receiving their awards are mainly from the faculty of Health and Social Sciences, although all four of the University’s faculties will be represented at the ceremonies.
The University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Les Ebdon CBE, said: “Our students have worked incredibly hard to get this far and I congratulate each and every one of them for remaining focused and dedicated throughout. I wish them every success for the future.”
