Luton South independent candidate Joe Hall dropped in at the University of Bedfordshire recently.
Joe, born and brought up in Luton, met Vice Chancellor Professor Les Ebdon CBE before being shown around the University including its media facilities, learning resources centre, the site of the new campus centre and business pods.
Joe said: “There are some fantastic facilities here. I have friends who studied film and television production and they always tell me that the facilities are cutting edge. The teaching staff are great here too, as many of them have worked in their industry which gives an invaluable insight for students.”
Earlier in the day Joe met with the President and Vice President Communications of the Students’ Union. He said: “Students are the most important people and I wanted to get their perspective first. The success of the students at the University will have a positive impact on the area.”
Joe has many links with the University - his mother currently works part-time and his brother is an alumnus in Product Design.
He added: “The University is at the heart of Luton. Having lived in Luton and because of the connections with my family I have followed its progress very closely. There is a success story here which I think could be a parable for the success of Luton. We need to focus on how we make this success work in other businesses.”
