Children in Need rowers

The students beat the staff in a Children in Need inspired rowing challenge at the University of Bedfordshire’s Luton campus.

More than £220 was raised for the charity as staff and students from the Division of Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation took the challenge on Friday lunchtime.

And the students (38.41k) managed to row further than the staff (36.61k) in the relay event over the two and a half hours.

Organiser Mark Cousins, a senior lecturer from the Division of Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation, said: “It was a good event and apparently the total distance rowed is actually further than Luton to Bedford and back again!”

First year student Samantha Croxford earned herself a signed England rugby jersey, donated by England and London Irish star Delon Armitage, by predicting that her fellow students would win!
