Are you a graduate whose work could involve working in front of the camera?
If so, you may be interested in a brand new course being offered by the University of Bedfordshire in January. This short course will provide you with the techniques and experience to appear before the camera with greater confidence.
The Postgraduate Certificate Performing Before the Camera is aimed at graduates who, in their professions, need to develop experience in front of the camera and who may not necessarily have an acting background.
Course Leader of Media Performance Dr Maria Wiener, said: “The course is aimed at people who may currently work, or aspire to work, in the media sector but also at people, who are in the public eye, such as political figures or spokespersons of organisations. It aims to prepare them for the expanding media performance opportunities that exist in television, film and new media.”
Senior Lecturer Margo Annett and Course Leader of the PG Certificate added: “The course opens up numerous career opportunities for graduates. The obvious are those of presenting or acting for television and film, but beyond this it enhances the opportunities for those following other disciplines and professions.
“Journalists, politicians, business executives and those involved in public life are more and more frequently called upon to appear and present themselves and their ideas before a camera in the course of their work.
“There will be practical exercises to develop the necessary skills when performing for the camera but students will also be expected to carry out their own rehearsals and research project.”
