You would be mad not to want to make a difference in two kind-hearted community events at the end of this month.

The national Make a Difference Day campaign is the UK’s largest day of volunteer action run by Community Service Volunteers (CSV).

This year, the campaign is highlighting the importance of kindness and helping others and the aim is that, together ‘we can beat the recession gloom, break down barriers and help to build stronger, happier and safer communities’.

The University of Bedfordshire and its Students’ Union, together with vinvolved, Bedfordshire Police, Luton Borough Council and Voluntary Action Luton, Pride in Bedford and Volunteer Centre Bedford are working in partnership to bring the local community a day of one-off volunteering.

There will be lots of roles for volunteers such as litter picking, gardening, painting, and graffiti cleaning. Refreshments and lunch will be included on the day but remember to wear old clothes!

The University of Bedfordshire is involved at two events in the towns of its two main campuses, Bedford and Luton.

The Bedford clean-up is at Scott Hall in Barford Avenue from 11am-3pm on Wednesday, 28 October .

And the Luton event will be in Hockwell Ring’s Spider Park from 11am-3pm on Thursday, 29 October.

For more information or to register for the event in Bedford, contact Rebecca Baber at Bedford Volunteers Bureau on 01234 213100 or email becs@bedfordvb.org.uk
