Innovation and entrepreneurship - can it be taught or does it simply need to be unlocked?

These are the kind of business dilemmas which will be addressed when the world-renowned authority on culture in business, Dr Charles Hampden-Turner, speaks at the University of Bedfordshire’s Knowledge Hub later this month.

Dr Hampden-Turner returns to the Knowledge Hub four years on from his previous visit, when he was the first speaker to attract more than 100 members. Many of his books are considered business classics and he has worked as a consultant to companies such as Shell, Nissan, Phillips and AMD, as well as teaching at the Universities of Cambridge and Harvard.

Gary Kirby, Knowledge Network Manager, revealed: “Charles will be discussing some of the questions facing businesses today: is it possible to teach innovation and entrepreneurship? If creativity and entrepreneurship were teachable, wouldn’t these experts be better employed demonstrating their powers? Why would they teach it if they could do it?

“His views are supported by extensive research carried out in Singapore and China but can be applied to individuals and organisation large and small across the business world.”

Dr Charles Hampden-Turner will be at the Innovation and Business Base, Butterfield Business Park, University of Bedfordshire, on 27 October. Tickets are £10 including VAT or £20 for non-members and registration starts at 17.30.
