The University has been praised for the positive impact it is having in Luton by the town’s mayor during a visit earlier this week.
After touring the IT facilities and central library, and inspecting progress on the new campus centre in Luton, Cllr Mohammed Riaz said the University was delivering “a hugely positive impact on the town”.
“Vice Chancellor Professor Les Ebdon and all his team are working very hard with the community to serve the needs of young people, not just in Luton, but also from the surrounding area, nationally and internationally.
“As a Lutonian, I feel very proud of what the University has achieved.”
Cllr Riaz, who has three children who have graduated from the University of Bedfordshire and one child who is an undergraduate, was paying his first official visit to the University as mayor.
He was joined by Cllr Raja Saleem who is a University Governor. Cllr Saleem added: “The University’s attempt to go into the community to remove barriers is a very welcome approach.”
