Professor Gurch Randhawa, Professor of Diversity in Public Health and the Director of the Institute for Health Research at the University, has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Human Tissue Authority (HTA).
As an Authority Board member, Professor Randhawa will be responsible for helping to determine the strategic direction and shape policy decisions of the HTA which licenses organisations that store and use human tissue.
He said he was honoured and privileged to contribute to the “immensely important work that the Human Tissue Authority leads upon.”
“I hope my extensive experience in tissue and organ research and in user-involvement will be of benefit to the Authority,” added Professor Randhawa.
Professor Randhawa, who took up his post earlier this month, is also currently a member of the UK Donation Ethics Committee and Chairman of NHS Luton.
