University of Bedfordshire Vice Chancellor Professor Les Ebdon CBE has been knighted by His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang in Malaysia.
Professor Ebdon has been made an Honorary Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of the Crown of Pahang as part of the Sultan’s 79th Birthday honours.
Professor Ebdon, who will travel to receive the award in person in April, said: "I am delighted to accept this award. We have strong partnerships in Malaysia which are enabling more young people to benefit from a university education and I am proud to receive this recognition."
Pahang is the largest state in Malaysia with a population of around one million.
Professor Ebdon was made a CBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list in 2009 for services to higher education nationally and locally. Now his services internationally have been recognised.
Professor Ebdon added: "We have one of the largest groups of international students of any university in the world with students from well over 100 countries and to receive international acclaim is a wonderful tribute to the work of this University."
