Education is really important to Luton - that’s the view of would-be MP Gavin Shuker after he visited the University on a fact-finding mission this week.
The Labour candidate for the Luton South seat met Vice Chancellor Professor Les Ebdon CBE before being shown around the University visiting its media facilities, learning resources centre, the site of the new campus centre and business pods.
Gavin said: “The role of the University of Bedfordshire in transforming people’s life chances and opportunities for not only the people of Bedfordshire but across the world is really important to me. So I wanted to come to the University to see some of the exciting developments and to meet the Vice Chancellor and students.”
Gavin discussed several important issues with Professor Ebdon including funding, student numbers and international students.
He added: “My housemate is studying here at the moment, so I’m often in and out of the Uni. It has always been a part of my life and I can remember the changes it has been through in recent years.”
